PLO Executive Committee Discusses Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to End the War

SadaNews - The Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Sheikh, chaired on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas, the meeting held by the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization today, Thursday, October 9, 2025, during which they discussed the agreement announced in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh under the auspices of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt. In this context, the Executive Committee expressed its welcome for the outcomes of the agreement, foremost among them the cessation of the genocide war ongoing for two years against the people of the Gaza Strip, which has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of whom are children, women, and the elderly, as a result of this aggressive war. The Executive Committee expressed its appreciation for the significant efforts made by US President Trump, along with the mediators from the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the Republic of Turkey, affirming its anticipation for the swift implementation of all terms and phases of the agreement, primarily the full commitment to ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli military forces from all Palestinian territories in Gaza, and the immediate commencement of humanitarian aid flow to halt the famine caused by the aggression. The Executive Committee also confirmed that the Palestinian National Authority and its government have completed the necessary preparations to address the aftermath of the devastating war, primarily the removal of rubble, providing relief for the affected, and expediting the convening of an international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza in coordination with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt. The committee welcomed the sisterly Egyptian Republic's invitation to initiate comprehensive Palestinian national dialogue among all Palestinian factions, stressing the importance of this step and the necessity to expedite its implementation to bolster the unity of Palestinian land and people in the occupied Palestinian state (the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and Gaza), and pave the way for the implementation of relevant international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among them the two-state solution. The committee also reviewed the efforts being made by the Palestinian government to address the suffocating financial crisis facing the Palestinian National Authority due to the continued Israeli occupation's confiscation of clearance funds, along with the ongoing preparations to take over the administration of Gaza's affairs and maintain security there starting from the day after the withdrawal of Israeli forces. The Executive Committee concluded its meeting by reaffirming its commitment to remain in continuous session to follow up on the successive developments related to the Palestinian issue, and to ensure the implementation of what has been agreed upon to serve the interests of the Palestinian people and their established national rights.
