Qatar: Resumption of Sharm El-Sheikh Negotiations and Trump's Plan Points Under Discussion
SadaNews - The spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majid Al-Ansari, stated that the round of negotiations regarding U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip resumed today, Tuesday, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
Al-Ansari added during a press conference today that there are many details of Trump's plan that still need to be agreed upon, indicating that yesterday saw four hours of intensive negotiations.
He affirmed that Doha is committed to working on advancing the U.S. President's plan, ending the war in Gaza, terminating the Israeli occupation, and delivering aid, expressing his country's appreciation for the U.S. commitment to end the war in Gaza.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the release of hostages "will end the war in Gaza," noting that "the U.S. position is clear that there is a link between the ceasefire and the release of hostages."
Al-Ansari added that they are working with the U.S. side to reach an agreement that the implementation of Trump's plan will not be temporary, pointing out that the guarantee is the existence of a swiftly applicable and practical plan agreed upon by all parties.
He confirmed that all parties agreed to President Trump's plan, and that the obstacles now lie in its implementation, considering it crucial to begin implementing the ceasefire and when the machinery of war will stop grinding the bodies of Gaza's children.
On another note, the Qatari spokesman confirmed that the presence of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) office in Doha has been part of the mediation tool led by Doha since 2006.
Al-Ansari indicated that the future of the Palestinian people should be in the hands of Palestinians alone.
On September 29, the U.S. President announced a plan consisting of 20 points, including the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, a ceasefire, and the disarmament of Hamas.
Last Saturday, Trump called on Israel to immediately cease its bombardment of the Gaza Strip, following Hamas's positive response to his plan, but Israel disregarded his call.
Since October 7, 2023, with U.S. support, Israel has been conducting a genocide in Gaza, resulting in 67,160 martyrs, 169,679 injured, mostly children and women, and a famine that claimed the lives of 460 Palestinians, including 154 children.
