Rodri Excluded from Spain Squad Due to Injury
SadaNews - The Spanish Football Federation has announced that Manchester City's midfielder Rodri will be absent from the national team lineup for the upcoming international window in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, following an injury to his hamstring.
The Spanish federation stated in a report "Rodri is out of the squad due to injury," as "La Roja" prepares to face Georgia and Bulgaria on the 11th and 14th of this month, respectively.
The 29-year-old left the pitch in the 21st minute of City's last match, where they won against Brentford on Sunday, confirming after the game that he felt discomfort in his hamstring.
Rodri has been a standout performer during his country's campaign in the UEFA Euro 2024, but he sustained a serious knee injury in September of the same year, causing him to miss most of last season.
The Spanish federation has not revealed whether they will call up a replacement for the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner.
Luis de la Fuente called up Celta Vigo striker Borja Iglesias on Sunday to compensate for the injured Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.
