Baghaei: We currently have no plan to negotiate with the United States
SadaNews - The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, stated at a press conference today, Monday, that his country currently has no plan to negotiate with the United States, explaining that the current focus is on studying the implications and backgrounds of the steps taken by the three European countries and the United States regarding the re-imposition of UN sanctions on Tehran.
Baghaei added that Iran still considers diplomacy as a path based on communication and consultations, pointing out that "whenever Tehran sees that this path can be fruitful, it will make the appropriate decision according to the higher national interests of the country".
The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that the European troika (Britain, France, and Germany) exploited the dispute resolution mechanism in the nuclear agreement to impose Washington’s demands on the Security Council, describing this step as illegal, and affirming that Iran’s positions are clear and supported by Russia and China.
The statement affirmed that the conditions set by the three European countries in exchange for not implementing the snapback mechanism are illogical and unreasonable, noting that the path of diplomacy remains open and Iran will use all available tools to secure its national interests.
The statement clarified that there is no program for negotiations with the troika at present, and that Iran's decisions will be made according to its interests, while continuing diplomatic work to assert its rights before the international community.
In a related context, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Sunday that cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency is no longer appropriate following the re-imposition of UN sanctions on Iran due to its nuclear program.
He emphasized that the Cairo agreement signed last month is no longer valid as a basis for cooperation, and that a new decision regarding the relationship with the agency will be issued soon, noting that the re-imposition of sanctions under the snapback mechanism has complicated the situation and reduced Europe's role in the nuclear negotiations.
