Jordan's Foreign Ministry Welcomes Hamas's Positive Response to Trump's Plan

SadaNews - The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed on Saturday the positive response of Hamas to the U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to end the war on the Gaza Strip, considering it an important step towards ending the war and its catastrophic repercussions.

The ministry also welcomed President Trump's statements calling for an immediate ceasefire to facilitate a prisoner exchange agreement under the terms outlined in his proposal, which Hamas has agreed to, in order to stop the bloodshed of Palestinians in Gaza.

Ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali stated that Jordan appreciates the pivotal role of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar in efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement.

Majali reiterated the ministry's welcome for the U.S. president's efforts and proposal regarding ending the war, rebuilding Gaza, preventing the displacement of the Palestinian people, and enhancing efforts to achieve comprehensive peace, in addition to his stance against the annexation of the West Bank.

He emphasized that Jordan sees its partnership with the United States as a fundamental pillar in efforts aimed at ending the conflict and achieving just peace.

Majali stressed the necessity of an immediate halt to Israeli aggression on Gaza, the opening of crossings to allow for ample, immediate, and sustainable humanitarian aid to various parts of the Strip, and the launch of a genuine effort to achieve just peace based on the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

He confirmed that Jordan continues to work with its brothers, the United States, and international partners to halt the war and launch an effective path towards achieving just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution. He also affirmed the kingdom's readiness to resume the delivery of aid to Gaza as soon as Israel removes the restrictions preventing this and ensures the safe delivery of aid in accordance with international law and humanitarian international law.
