Palestinian Presidency Statement: We Renew Our Commitment to Conduct General Presidential and Parliamentary Elections

-President: Our people stand today at a pivotal and decisive stage that requires everyone to assume their responsibilities to preserve the achievements gained through great sacrifices.

-President: We affirm our determination to continue our efforts to expand the circle of international recognition of the State of Palestine and its full membership in the United Nations.

-President: We renew our commitment to conduct general presidential and parliamentary elections within one year from the date of the end of the war.

-We have tasked the relevant authorities to complete a temporary constitution for the state within three months, which will serve as a basis for the transition from authority to state.

-It is prohibited for any party, political force, or individual to run for office unless they adhere to the political program and international and legal obligations of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and implement the principle of the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, international legitimacy resolutions, and the principle of one system and one law, along with a single legitimate security force.

-We have directed the government to continue developing and updating educational curricula to align with UNESCO standards, with completion expected within two years according to the international commitments we have made.

-President: We affirm our commitment to our Palestinian national identity and constants, as well as to the national values of peace, the rejection of violence and incitement in all forms, including media, educational curricula, and the cultural sphere.

-President: We affirm the commitment of the State of Palestine to implement Law No. (4) for the year 2025 and to cancel all previous laws and instructions related to the rights of the families of prisoners, martyrs, and the wounded, transitioning to a unified social protection and welfare system in accordance with international standards.

-President: All categories that are subject to the new law are obligated to fill out the unified form to apply the eligibility criteria for receiving cash allowances when the conditions are met.

SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas extends his appreciation and respect to the resilient and sacrificing Palestinian people in the face of genocide, displacement, and starvation in Gaza, and to our people in the West Bank defending their land, resources, and holy sites against the attacks of occupation forces, settler terrorism, and annexation threats, as well as their strong rejection of attempts to systematically destroy our economic and human resources and undermine the institutions of the State of Palestine that strive for its independence and national sovereignty.

From our commitment to our heroic Palestinian people to a comprehensive reform and development roadmap, and the commitments we have made to the international community during the international peace conference in New York, we affirm our determination to continue our efforts to expand the circle of international recognition of the State of Palestine and its full membership in the United Nations, reaching the end of the occupation and embodying an independent Palestinian state with sovereignty over our land, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In this context, we renew our commitment to conduct general presidential and parliamentary elections within one year from the date of the end of the war. To achieve this goal, we have tasked the relevant authorities to complete a temporary constitution for the state, to be finalized within three months, which will serve as a basis for the transition from authority to state. The elections law and related laws will also be amended based on the provisions of the temporary constitution, whereby no party, political force, or individual may run for office unless they adhere to the political program and international and legal obligations of the Palestine Liberation Organization, implement the principle of the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, international legitimacy resolutions, and the principle of a single system, a single law, and the existence of a single legitimate security force.

We have directed the Palestinian government to continue developing and updating educational curricula to align with UNESCO standards, aiming for completion within two years according to the international commitments we have made. We affirm in this regard our adherence to our Palestinian national identity and constants, and to the national values of peace, and the rejection of violence and incitement in various fields, including media, educational curricula, and the cultural sphere.

We also reaffirm the commitment of the State of Palestine to implement Law No. (4) for the year 2025, and to cancel all previous laws and instructions related to the entitlements of the families of prisoners, martyrs, and the wounded. Based on this, we have established the Palestinian National Economic Empowerment Institution to unify the social protection and welfare programs under one system, in accordance with known international standards, to ensure an adequate level of social protection and welfare.

Accordingly, all categories applicable under the new law are obliged to fill out the unified form to apply eligibility criteria for cash allowances when the conditions are met, and we call upon all relevant Palestinian institutions to adhere strictly to the application of the law and its implementing procedures, and we emphasize that non-compliance with the application instructions or failure to fill out the unified form will prevent the concerned authorities from granting any cash allowances under the unified protection and welfare system.
