Arab-Islamic Confirmation on Developing a Comprehensive Plan for the Reconstruction of Gaza
SadaNews - Arab and Islamic leaders confirmed on Wednesday the necessity of establishing a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, based on the plan of Arab countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in addition to security arrangements, with international assistance to support the Palestinian leadership.
This statement came from 8 Arab countries that are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation following their participation in a multilateral summit with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York City on Tuesday, initiated by him, and hosted alongside Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
Present at the meeting were Jordan's King Abdullah II, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The leaders highlighted the unbearable humanitarian disaster in Gaza, including the massive human losses, as well as its serious consequences for the region and its impact on the Islamic world, reiterating their shared position rejecting forced displacement and the necessity of allowing the return of those who have left.
They confirmed the need to end the war and achieve an immediate ceasefire that would ensure the release of hostages and allow adequate humanitarian aid to enter, describing this as the first step towards a just and lasting peace, affirming their commitment to cooperation with President Trump and the importance of his leadership to open horizons for a just and lasting peace.
The leaders emphasized the importance of detailing a plan to achieve stability, ensuring the stability of the West Bank and the holy sites in Jerusalem, expressing their support for reform efforts for the Palestinian Authority and their commitment to work together to ensure the success of plans and to rebuild the lives of the Palestinians in Gaza.
Participants also stressed the importance of maintaining momentum to ensure that this meeting is the beginning of a path towards a future characterized by peace and regional cooperation.
