Despite recognizing Palestine.. The French government orders government buildings to lower the Palestinian flag

SadaNews - The Mayor of La Courneuve, northeast of Paris, Gilles Poux, who decided to lower the flag late Tuesday after the municipality was fined for raising it earlier this year, said, "No one said anything to us when we raised the Ukrainian flag!".

He added, "The talk about neutrality is hypocrisy; freedom, equality, and fraternity have no neutrality in these values."

Dozens of French city councils raised the Palestinian flag while President Emmanuel Macron recognized a Palestinian state earlier in the week, defying instructions from the Interior Ministry not to do so.
 
Some city councils were forced to lower the flag today after regional authorities began legal action. Meanwhile, some mayors considered that this "undermined the message of solidarity that Macron sought to convey through his acknowledgment, which is largely symbolic."
