Reopening of Copenhagen and Oslo Airports After Drone Sightings
SadaNews - The airports of Copenhagen and Oslo were reopened on Tuesday morning after being closed for hours due to the sighting of drones in their airspace, which caused the diversion of some flights and travel disruptions.
In Copenhagen, police reported that large drones were seen above the airport on Monday evening, but they eventually left on their own. Police Deputy Inspector Jakob Hansen told reporters: "The drones have disappeared, and the airport has been reopened. We did not shoot down the drones."
In Oslo, two drones were spotted on two separate occasions, confirmed the airport spokesperson Monica Vastinng, adding that the airport was reopened around 03:15 local time (01:15 GMT).
During the closure, flights were diverted to nearby destinations, and officials at both airports expect some delays and disruptions to continue on Tuesday.
This incident comes amid escalating aerial tensions in Europe, after Poland, Estonia, and Romania accused Russia of violating their airspace this month, which Moscow has denied or ignored.
When asked by Danish police about the possibility that the drones could be from Russia, Hansen said: "At this stage, we do not know."
