Germany's Foreign Minister: Gaza Residents Are Living in Hell on Earth
SadaNews - German Foreign Minister, Johan Wadephul, sharply criticized Israel regarding its operations in the city of Gaza and the West Bank, during his first visit to the United Nations in New York.
Wadephul stated on Monday at a UN conference organized by France and Saudi Arabia to support the two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians: "Across Gaza, people are living in hell on earth."
The foreign minister called for the resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians regarding the two-state solution, although he acknowledged that it "seems further away than ever."
He added, "This decades-long conflict cannot be resolved through terrorism, destruction, and killing. It cannot be won or even managed. It must be resolved."
Wadephul indicated that Germany would continue its strong support for Israel's existence and long-term security, which remains a matter of concern for some.
Due to time constraints, the minister could not complete his speech, as the allotted time for his remarks was only two minutes, and the microphone was turned off before he finished his statements.
