The General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency Adopts a Resolution Supporting the State of Palestine, Including the Gaza Strip
SadaNews - The Mission of the State of Palestine and the Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna welcomed the adoption by the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency during its 69th session held in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on Thursday, September 19, 2025, of a draft resolution by the Arab Group, headed by the Arab Republic of Egypt and on behalf of the State of Palestine, concerning the enhancement of technical cooperation programs for Palestine to include the Gaza Strip following the genocide.
The Mission of the State of Palestine indicated that the resolution received overwhelming support from member states, with 93 member countries of the agency backing it, reflecting the significant international solidarity with the Palestinian people and the importance of the agency playing an active role in international efforts aimed at addressing the effects of genocide and the catastrophic humanitarian consequences resulting from the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, including the extensive destruction of health and service infrastructure, including hospitals and health centers.
The mission affirmed that this decision represents a new victory for Palestine achieved through joint efforts with brotherly Arab countries, primarily the Arab Republic of Egypt, to garner international support for the rehabilitation and reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip through UN and international organizations, particularly in the sectors of energy, health, and agriculture.
The mission expressed its deep appreciation to the countries that voted in favor of the resolution, considering this a confirmation of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s commitment to providing the necessary technical support to the Palestinian people and its contribution to the rehabilitation of vital sectors in Palestine, which enhances the resilience of our people in the face of the repercussions of aggression.
