Anticipated Meeting Between Trump and Xi in South Korea Next Month
SadaNews - Last night, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he will meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping during the "APEC" summit hosted by South Korea next month.
Trump wrote on his platform "Truth Social" after a phone call with Xi that their discussions were "very productive," noting that he plans to visit China early next year, while the Chinese president will visit the United States "at the right time."
The White House Chief emphasized achieving "progress on several critical issues, including trade, the need to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the approval of the TikTok deal."
For his part, Xi urged his American counterpart to avoid "unilateral" trade restrictions and to maintain a "non-discriminatory" environment for Chinese companies.
He also described their second phone call as "constructive." According to Chinese state media, Xi stated that Washington should "avoid imposing unilateral trade restrictive measures to not undermine the gains achieved during several rounds of negotiations."
Regarding the potential TikTok deal, Xi stated according to the official "Xinhua News Agency" that China respects the will of companies and welcomes them to conduct business discussions based on market rules and reach solutions that align with Chinese law.
