Jordanian Official Authorities Announce Start of Investigation into Shooting Incident
SadaNews - The Jordanian official authorities announced the start of an investigation into the shooting incident that occurred at the King Hussein Bridge, which resulted in the death of two Israelis.
The Jordanian authorities stated in a statement published this evening that "Jordan condemns this operation and rejects it, as it violates the law and jeopardizes the kingdom's interests and its capacity to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza," as they expressed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan confirmed in a statement that "Jordan's firm position condemns all acts of violence and rejects all illegal actions that endanger Jordan's interests, its role, and the operations of delivering aid to Gaza," as mentioned in the statement.
The ministry also confirmed that it "is monitoring, in coordination with all concerned authorities, the situation of the drivers who crossed the bridge today to deliver aid to Gaza to ensure their immediate return to Jordan."
Today, 22 Jordanian aid trucks crossed the bridge toward Gaza as part of the agreed-upon procedures, which have facilitated the movement of 8,664 aid trucks within 201 convoys since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, allowing Jordan to provide a main supply line for aid to Gaza, which is suffering a humanitarian disaster caused and exacerbated by the aggression.
The statement emphasized the need to immediately stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and to reach a permanent ceasefire, as well as to initiate effective and immediate diplomatic moves to resolve the conflict based on the two-state solution, thus protecting the entire region from the repercussions of the serious escalation it is witnessing.
The statement noted that the driver accused of the incident is Abdul Muttalib Al-Qaisi, born in 1968, who is a civilian that began working as a driver to deliver aid to Gaza three months ago.
