The Ministry of Health Receives a Shipment of Medicines from the Government of India

SadaNews - The Ministry of Health received a shipment of medical aid from the Indian government today, Sunday, through the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, under the supervision of the embassies of India and Jordan in Palestine.

Health Minister Majid Abu Ramadan stated that the grant consists of forty "containers" of medicines and medical supplies that form a quality boost to our health sector and are at its core needs. The shipment includes medications for cancer patients, antibiotics, painkillers, asthma medications, as well as supplies specific to anesthesia, operating rooms, emergency departments, disinfectants, and dialysis machines. All of these are urgent needs for our health institutions in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem.

Ramadan emphasized the ongoing Indian support for Palestine, which is not limited to medical aid but also includes strategic projects, foremost of which is the Indian hospital planned to be established in Jenin Governorate with generous funding from the Indian government, which will represent a qualitative addition to the Palestinian health system.

He also thanked Jordan for their consistent role in supporting the health sector and for their continuous efforts through the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization in transporting and delivering this grant to the warehouses of the Ministry of Health in Nablus.

He noted that this support comes at a time when our people are suffering from an unprecedented health disaster in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing aggression, and the increasing numbers of injured and sick amidst enormous needs for medicines and medical supplies, alongside the assaults on health institutions and staff in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

He stressed that the ministry continues its efforts with international health organizations to pressure the occupation authorities to allow the urgent entry of medical supplies and medicines into the Gaza Strip.

For his part, the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Palestine, Issam Al-Badour, addressed the Kingdom's role in facilitating the entry of aid through the King Hussein Bridge, under the supervision of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization.

In turn, the new Ambassador of the Republic of India to the State of Palestine, Mahima Sikand, stated that the grant is part of India's ongoing support for Palestine to alleviate the suffering that the Palestinian people are going through, pointing out that her country is one of the supporters of the State of Palestine in several sectors, including the health sector.

The ambassador expressed hope that this aid would reach the Gaza Strip to meet some of the needs of patients there.
