Netanyahu: The operation against Hamas leadership in Doha is purely Israeli
SadaNews - The Israeli security forces have named the airstrike carried out by the air force in Qatar's capital, Doha, in an attempt to target the leadership of Hamas abroad, "Operation Fire Summit," according to Israeli Army Radio citing military sources this evening, Tuesday.
According to sources, the operation was conducted using fighter jets from the air force, approximately 1,700 kilometers away from Israeli territory, further than Tehran and closer to Sana'a in Yemen. The radio added that members of the security cabinet were informed of the operation in advance.
Israeli reports stated that there was a consensus among political and security leadership regarding the operation, and among the targets were the movement's leader, Khalil Al-Hayya, and members of its political bureau: Zahir Jabareen, Ghazi Hamad, and Basem Naeem, amidst reports that a Hamas delegation survived the assassination attempt.
According to Israeli reports, the operation was managed from the special operations headquarters of the Shin Bet in central Israel, where the Shin Bet directed the intelligence information while the air force executed the strike using several fighter jets.
During the execution of the operation, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister of Security Israel Katz, the Acting Head of the Shin Bet, his deputy, and the head of military intelligence were present in the command room, while the Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, led the air force operations room alongside the commander of the air force, Tomer Bar.
Israeli reports pointed out that the operation was conducted by the "Counter-Terrorism Department against Palestinian targets abroad" of the Shin Bet, with the participation of the special operations unit.
