Reuters: Qatar urges Hamas to accept Trump proposal
SadaNews - A knowledgeable source told Reuters that Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani urged the leaders of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to "respond" to the latest U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages during talks in Doha on Monday.
The source said that the Qatari Prime Minister urged Hamas to respond to the latest U.S. proposal, conveyed through intermediaries, aiming to achieve a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
The movement announced yesterday that it had received some ideas from the U.S. side to reach an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza, and that it was discussing ways to develop these ideas with intermediaries.
Earlier, Bassem Naeem, a member of the movement's political bureau, tweeted through his Telegram page, as followed by SadaNews: "It is clear that we are faced with initial ideas that the American side calls an offer, and it is evident that the primary goal is to reach a rejection of the offer rather than to achieve an agreement that leads to a ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of hostile forces and the exchange of prisoners."
He added: "What is required is a disgraceful peace or the continuation of war; they are talking about taking all the prisoners on the first day, tying the withdrawal to the formation of a government that Israel approves of, and the implementation of assigned tasks, foremost among them security arrangements, redefining Hamas, discussing a pardon for Hamas cadres and leaders, and the disarmament of the resistance, without mentioning reconstruction at all."
He continued: The Hamas movement and the resistance factions are concerned with reaching an agreement that ends the war and stops the genocide, and opens up avenues for a political solution that achieves our legitimate national goals, but not signing a humiliating surrender document, and the leadership of Hamas does not have an emperor like Japan.
