
The President Arrives in the United Kingdom on a State Visit
SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas arrived this evening, Sunday, in the United Kingdom on a state visit, at the kind invitation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which will last for three days.
The President is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss ways to support efforts for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, to stop the ongoing aggression, destruction, and starvation against our people, to release hostages and prisoners, to allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip immediately, and to withdraw occupation forces so that the State of Palestine can assume its full responsibilities and move forward with the recovery and reconstruction plan. They will also address stopping all unilateral actions, including settlement activity, settler terrorism, and annexation, and coordinating efforts regarding the international conference scheduled for this month on the two-state solution, as well as the anticipated British recognition of the State of Palestine.
Additionally, the President will discuss bilateral relations and ways to develop them across all fields, as well as several issues of mutual concern with Starmer.
During the visit, the President will meet with Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and a number of British officials.
The President is accompanied by Ziad Abu Amr, Head of the Department of International Relations in the Palestine Liberation Organization, Majdi Khaldi, the President's Diplomatic Advisor, and Hussam Zomlot, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the United Kingdom.
