Video: Houthi Drone Hits Ramon Airport Near Eilat

SadaNews - Reports indicated on Sunday evening that a suicide drone launched from Yemen struck the passenger terminal at Ramon Airport near the city of Eilat, causing material damage without any injuries reported, while security forces began investigating the incident.

Videos and images circulated on social media showed columns of smoke rising from the vicinity of Ramon Airport near Eilat following the Houthi drone's impact in the passenger terminal, confirming that material damage occurred at the site.

The Israeli public broadcasting authority ("Kan 11") confirmed the passenger terminal at the airport was closed following the drone attack, noting the airport was shut down and flight operations halted after the incident.

The Israeli army stated in a statement that the air force intercepted three drones launched from Yemen towards Israel, indicating that "two of them were shot down before breaching the border, while alarm sirens were activated as per standard policy."

Israeli reports indicated that the drone that struck Ramon Airport near Eilat was not detected by Israeli air defense systems, surprising the Israeli army, noting that the first report about it only arrived after the strike took place.

Earlier reports had indicated that security agencies detected three drones in the skies over Sinai heading towards Israel, while the public broadcasting authority (Kan 11) mentioned that one of them did indeed hit Ramon Airport.

In an earlier preliminary statement, the Israeli army announced activating alerts in the "Nitzana" area in the southern Negev, "following the breach of hostile drones," noting that the details are under investigation.
