Launch of a series of strategic projects in the far east of Russia

SadaNews - Russian President Vladimir Putin launched several new projects in the Far East region today, Thursday, which include industrial, financial, social, and cultural facilities.

The Russian president opened, via video conference, a railway between Yakutia and the Khabarovsk Territory, and gave the green light to launch a new passenger building at Khabarovsk Airport.

This step aims to enhance economic and service development in this strategic region.

"Pacific" Railway

The railway is the "Pacific" Railway, which is the first private line in the area, built in the dense forests in a record time of less than two years.

The 531-kilometer-long route connects the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) with the Khabarovsk Territory. The line has a capacity of 50 million tons of coal annually, extracted from the Elginsky coal mine.

This line represents the third major railway artery in the Far East, alongside the Great Siberian Railway and the Baikal-Amur Mainline. It also represents a new logistical route within the cross-border route between Russia and the Asia-Pacific region, allowing for the diversification of cargo flows to the east and ensuring the development of promising projects for major resource fields. The new transport and logistical corridor creates a suitable space for long-term development of the steel, mechanical engineering, construction, and other related sectors.

Multimodal Center for Transport and Logistics

The region has also completed the first phase of construction of Russia's largest "Dry Port," which is a multimodal center for transport and logistics. This center will enhance the efficiency of logistics services for rail, maritime, and road transport, as the dry port, with over 100 kilometers of tracks, will process exporting and local cargo in containers, as well as send and process imported goods.

In parallel, the first phase of rehabilitation of part of the "Usuri" highway connecting Khabarovsk and Vladivostok has been completed, with the second phase set to be completed by the end of the current autumn, making this 15-kilometer section safer.

The "Usuri" road is the only street connecting the Khabarovsk Territory with the region, linking the regional road network with the public Russian road network.

New Passenger Building in Khabarovsk

Additionally, the new international passenger terminal in the "Khabarovsk" accelerated development area has entered service, with a capacity of 600 passengers per hour, designed to serve up to one million passengers annually.

The investment in the project amounted to 6.1 billion rubles. Following its opening, the Khabarovsk airport complex has become the largest in the Far East.

In the region, on the island, the experimental platform for the scientific and technological innovation center "Russkiy" has been inaugurated.

This four-story complex, which has a total area of over 7.6 thousand square meters, will host high-tech companies and scientific organizations in fields such as biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, marine biotechnology, and digitization.

Initial estimates suggest that the revenues of the residents of the center will exceed 1.5 billion rubles by 2030. The center aims to be a unified hub for innovative development in the Far East and a transport for marketing innovative developments, from the laboratory to the pilot batch.

Financial Center

Putin also oversaw the opening of the international financial and accounting center for the Far East in Vladivostok to enhance cooperation with countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

This project is implemented within the framework of the bank's strategy to develop a high-tech system for cross-border payments during export and import operations, as an alternative to traditional banking payments and resilient to sanctions imposed by unfriendly countries. The center uses modern digital solutions to ensure the speed and safety of payments. The project is expected to contribute to the development of Russia's foreign economic relations with neighboring countries, enhancing the role of the Far East as a vital logistical and financial hub between Europe and Asia.

Among the prominent social projects is the new regional hospital in the region's capital, which has 175 beds and is equipped with the latest necessary equipment to provide high-tech medical care and perform surgeries in 20 specialties, including neurosurgery, maxillofacial surgery, and otolaryngology, which is the only one of its kind in the region.

In the city of Ussuriysk in the Primorsky Krai, a museum dedicated to the Ussuri Forest has been inaugurated, where this platform is prepared to serve environmental awareness purposes, alongside its role as a reception gateway for visitors coming to the region from various parts of Russia and the world.

The museum aims to prepare tourists for their future exploration of the Far East regions, offering its five halls a comprehensive knowledge journey about the province's environment and its natural characteristics, immersing visitors in the world of dense forests and revealing the harmonies between man and nature.

During his tour, President Putin visited the new branch of the National Center "Russia" in Vladivostok, where he experienced an interactive digital forest, where he witnessed the rare Ussuri tigers and Amur leopards through advanced visual simulation techniques.

President Putin also praised the distinguished educational level at the Kirov Medical Academy in Saint Petersburg during his meeting with trainees of the Military Sports Center for Youth Preparation and National Awareness "Warrior," commending the efficiency of the teaching staff and the developmental renaissance witnessed by the university.

This came after one of the trainees expressed her intention to enroll in the academy, describing it as "one of the most prestigious educational institutions that is witnessing remarkable development, boasting a distinguished academic heritage and a qualified faculty, making it an excellent educational choice.".

The activities of the Eastern Economic Forum, in its tenth edition, commenced yesterday in the city of Vladivostok in the Russian Far East, with wide international and local participation, under the slogan "The Far East... Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity." The forum activities will continue until September 6, hosting these sessions at the headquarters of the Far Eastern Federal University.
