Sheikh Makes Phone Call to Putin's Special Envoy
SadaNews: Today, Tuesday, the Deputy of the State of Palestine, Hussein Sheikh, made a phone call to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and President Putin's Special Envoy, Sergey Vershinin. They discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian scene, including the issue of visa restrictions on the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations, and ways to rally international recognition of the State of Palestine during the upcoming international conference.
Sheikh said: "We discussed the serious conditions in the West Bank and Jerusalem regarding settlement activities, settler violence, and the withholding of clearance funds. As for the Gaza Strip, I emphasized the need to stop the aggression, allow humanitarian aid in, and link Gaza with the West Bank under the sovereignty of the State of Palestine, and to move towards reconstruction."
He continued: "I confirmed with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister the ongoing close coordination between the State of Palestine and the Russian Federation to address current challenges and strengthen international efforts to hold the peace conference in New York on time, scheduled for September 22."
