Audio recording stirs confusion.. Police arrest 3 individuals in Ramallah

SadaNews - The spokesperson for the Palestinian police, Major Luay Arzeqat, stated that "the preventive security and the public investigation department in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh police detained 3 individuals for disseminating an audio recording through social media, which contained rumors and lies that caused confusion and fear among citizens." Arzeqat continued: "The individuals were detained until legal actions are taken against them according to regulations, and we warn anyone who tries to tamper with community security or stirs confusion among citizens." He added: "We call on everyone not to be drawn into misleading news and to ensure that information is obtained from its official sources." The audio recording, which was widely circulated on social media platforms and led to the arrest of three individuals, included serious allegations about a "imminent collapse of the Palestinian Authority," claiming that security forces would begin evacuating their sites in the Bethlehem and Hebron governorates in preparation for a withdrawal from other governorates. These allegations, which were categorically denied by official authorities, were considered an attempt to undermine trust in national institutions and to instill panic among citizens at a sensitive time when the Palestinian cause faces significant challenges. The Government Communication Center denied yesterday the authenticity of the circulating audio clip and all claims made within it, emphasizing the Palestinian government's commitment to its duties towards its people and nation, and the steadfastness of its national institutions despite the practices of the occupation and its collaborators. The center stressed that promoting rumors targeting the stability of the community, especially at this time, serves the declared objectives of the occupation, warning of legal action against anyone involved in disseminating them. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of the Interior confirmed that it is seriously monitoring what is being circulated through some media outlets and social media platforms regarding rumors and false news that aim to undermine the internal front and shake citizen trust in their national institutions, at a time that requires the highest levels of responsibility and awareness to confront existing challenges.
