President: No Objection to Arab or International Partnership in Managing Gaza

SadaNews - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stated in an interview with "Al-Arabiya" and "Al-Hadath" channels that "Israel wants to destroy Palestine completely," affirming that the Palestinian Authority does not mind an Arab or international partnership to manage the Gaza Strip.

The President pointed to the fall of "no less than 200,000 dead and injured in Gaza," adding that "Israel continues its approach while the world is content with condemnation." He said that Palestinians have "grown accustomed to the non-implementation of international decisions regarding Palestine," adding: "We have 1,000 UN resolutions concerning Palestine, none of which have been implemented."

The Palestinian President also confirmed that "Gaza is experiencing a real famine... those who do not die in the war in Gaza are dying of hunger." He saw that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "determined to continue the extermination of the Palestinian people," adding that he "wants to remain Prime Minister to avoid trial" in Israel.

On another note, the President said that "Jordan and Egypt have an honorable stance to prevent displacement from Gaza and the West Bank," adding: "We are working to stop the displacement of the Palestinian people."

He confirmed that "the Palestinian Authority is actively working diplomatically to stop the war on Gaza," adding: "We are ready to take over governance in Gaza, and we have the means to do so... and we have no objection to an Arab or international partnership in managing Gaza."

The Palestinian President viewed that "Netanyahu does not want a fully sovereign Palestinian state," adding, "We recognized Israel since 1988, and yet it prevents the establishment of a Palestinian state."

He continued: "149 countries have recognized the Palestinian state... Several heads of state have informed me of their intention to recognize the State of Palestine... and we will go to the United Nations to obtain full membership for Palestine."

President Abbas stressed that "there were no Palestinian concessions in the Oslo Agreement," adding that this agreement "allowed 1.8 million Palestinians to return to their homeland." He affirmed that Netanyahu attempted to "cancel or freeze the Oslo Agreement," but this agreement is "bilateral" and "cannot be canceled by one party."

The Palestinian President emphasized, saying: "We do not want a war against Israel," adding: "Our law is based on peaceful popular resistance."

Regarding the Palestinian camps in Lebanon, Abbas said: "The talk about withdrawing weapons from the camps in Lebanon began 15 years ago... withdrawing the weapons from the Palestinian camps is a precursor to protecting Lebanon," considering that "the weapons of the camps served their purpose in 1969 and have no role now."

He revealed that he agreed with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to withdraw all weapons from the camps, adding: "We are determined to withdraw all Palestinian weapons from Lebanon."

The Palestinian President continued: "I want a normal relationship with Lebanon and for it to maintain its unity and security... I will not be a cause for disrupting the Lebanese state project... and the Palestinian weapons will remain a trust with the Lebanese state."

Regarding Saudi Arabia, Abbas stated that it is "insistent on all its positions concerning Palestine," adding: "Saudi Arabia will not prioritize any interest over the establishment of the Palestinian state."
