Three Killed and Nine Injured in Russian Airstrike on Kyiv

SadaNews - Loud explosions echoed in Kyiv last night, while local authorities announced that a significant Russian ballistic missile attack targeted the Ukrainian capital, resulting in at least three fatalities and nine injuries.

The head of the military administration of the capital, Tymur Tkachchenko, stated via Telegram that a "Russian ballistic attack" struck at least three neighborhoods in Kyiv, causing a fire at a kindergarten and a residential building.

The military administration of the capital announced in a post that "according to operational information, the death toll has risen to three, and the number of injured has reached nine. Among the deceased is a child."

A missile was seen during interception, and its burning debris fell on the capital, while the buzzing of drones was heard flying over Kyiv.

For his part, the mayor of the capital, Vitaly Klitschko, stated that a "massive attack" targeted Kyiv and left at least four injured who were taken to the hospital.

Several residents of the capital fled to an underground shelter, where they followed the news on Telegram. Others sought refuge in the subway, carrying sleeping bags with them.

Around 1:00 AM GMT, air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine, warning of an aerial attack around 01:00 GMT.

Outside the capital, the Ukrainian railway company announced a "massive" Russian attack that caused power outages in the Vinnytsia region (central) and led to delays in train services.

Attacks in Ukraine and Russia have continued in recent days, despite intense diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict that began in early 2022 when Russia invaded its neighbor.

In recent months, the Russian army, which occupies about 20% of Ukraine in the east and south, has managed to accelerate the pace of its advances against less numerous and poorly equipped Ukrainian units.
