Occupation Continues Targeting Journalists in Gaza: 240 Journalist Martyrs Since the Start of the War of Extermination

SadaNews - The death toll of journalist martyrs in Gaza due to ongoing Israeli targeting since the beginning of the genocide war on October 7, 2023, has risen to 240 martyrs following the martyrdom of journalist Khaled Muhammad Al-Madhoun on Saturday.

According to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, Al-Madhoun was martyred "while performing his professional duty in covering events in the 'Zikim' area in northern Gaza Strip, due to a direct targeting by the Israeli occupation forces."

It affirmed that "the targeting of journalists is an ongoing crime practiced by the occupation forces in an attempt to obscure the truth and silence the Palestinian voice, but they will not succeed in breaking the will of the knights of Palestinian media who continue to carry out their message despite all dangers."

The government media office in Gaza condemned Israel's systematic targeting and killing of journalists in the sector, holding the countries participating in the genocide war fully responsible.

The International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all journalistic bodies around the world have been called upon to condemn these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media personnel in Gaza Strip.

The government media in the sector held "the Israeli occupation, the U.S. administration, and the countries participating in the crime of genocide such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for committing these heinous brutal crimes."

It demanded the international community, international organizations, and organizations related to journalism and media in all countries to condemn the occupation's crimes, deter it, and pursue it in international courts for its ongoing crimes and bring the perpetrators of the occupation to justice.

They also urged them to "seriously and effectively press to stop the crime of genocide, to protect journalists and media personnel in Gaza, and to halt their killing and assassination."

On August 10, Israel killed 6 journalists, including 5 from Al-Jazeera, in a bombardment targeting their tent near Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, namely: Anas Al-Sharif, Muhammad Qaraqe, photographers Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa, and their assistant Muhammad Nofal, in addition to Muhammad Khalidi.

Israel continues to target journalists in Gaza despite international warnings, deliberately bombing them, arresting them, or issuing threats against them. Observers consider this as attempts to silence their voices, which Tel Aviv finds revealing of the details of the genocide it is committing in the sector.
