Oshakov Reveals Details of the Phone Call Between Putin and Trump

SadaNews - Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that a phone call took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump half an hour ago.

Ushakov said, "Half an hour ago, at the initiative of the American president, a phone conversation took place between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin," noting that "the conversation lasted about 40 minutes."

He added that Trump informed Putin about the results of his discussions with the ousted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders of European countries, indicating that the conversation between Putin and Trump was "frank and constructive."

Ushakov stated that the two presidents "expressed their support during the conversation for the continuation of direct negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine."

He added that they "agreed to maintain close communication between them regarding Ukraine and other urgent issues on the international and bilateral agenda."

Ushakov mentioned, "The Russian president once again emphasized the importance of the efforts made by Donald Trump personally to find solutions that lead to a long-term settlement in Ukraine."

He added that Putin and Trump discussed "the necessity of considering the possibility of raising the level of representatives from both the Ukrainian and Russian sides, that is, the representatives participating in the aforementioned direct negotiations."

According to Ushakov, the Russian president expressed his sincere thanks to his American counterpart for the warm reception and hospitality during their recent meeting in Alaska, saying: "Our president warmly thanked his American counterpart for the hospitality and good organization of the summit in Alaska."

U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders of European Union countries at the White House on Monday. Trump indicated that he did not rule out the possibility of holding a subsequent trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky if the negotiations are successful.

It is worth noting that the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, discussed during their meeting in Alaska on August 15 the ways to settle the Ukrainian conflict. The two leaders described the meeting positively. The Russian president announced at the end of the summit the possibility of reaching an end to the conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing that Russia is interested in having long-term peace.

For his part, Trump indicated that he and Putin managed to agree on "several points" related to the Ukrainian issue, but some issues remain without agreement. On the same day, he gave an interview to Fox News where he said that the possibility of reaching an agreement over Ukraine now depends on Volodymyr Zelensky.
