Israelis Infiltrate Syria and Raise the Occupation Flag
SadaNews Translation: A new incident occurred at the Syrian border south of the Golan Heights, involving about 10 Israelis crossing several meters into Syrian territory, where they planted an Israeli flag and a sign before the Israeli occupation forces intervened and returned them.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson for the occupation army, as translated by SadaNews, "A report was received earlier about several vehicles carrying Israeli civilians that crossed the border fence into Syrian territory. The army forces present in the area managed to return them safely to Israel shortly after, and detained them for questioning by the police."
The Israeli army described the incident as "serious and a criminal offense that endangers the lives of civilians and army forces," noting that the penalty for crossing the border into Syria or Lebanon can reach four years in prison.
This incident comes in the context of a series of border violations the region has witnessed recently, as thousands of Druze previously crossed from Israel into Syrian territory last month, in light of the protests in the city of Sweida, the stronghold of the Druze community in Syria.
Additionally, last January, the occupation forces arrested two Israelis from Tamra and Baqa, after they entered Syrian territory by car, where they were stopped while driving near the border. In another incident that occurred a month earlier, the police arrested four Israelis who crossed the border into Lebanon illegally.
