Syrian Defense: Attacks by Regime Loyalists Escalated in Lattakia and Tartus Countryside

SadaNews - The media and communication department of the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that "attacks by remnants of the former regime have escalated over the past 72 hours, targeting army forces in the countrysides of Lattakia and Tartus."

It also clarified in a statement late Thursday night that "groups of remnants attacked a military vehicle belonging to the army in the Lattakia countryside without causing any human casualties."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that it is "continuing to protect all components of the Syrian people and maintain civil peace."

Additionally, it warned those it described as "remnants of the fallen regime" against attempts to undermine security and stability on the Syrian coast, emphasizing that it would not tolerate any attacks targeting army forces or civilians.

It is worth noting that the coastal areas (Lattakia, Tartus, and Baniyas) witnessed violent incidents and bloody confrontations on March 6, during which civilians and members of the General Security were affected. The government held armed groups loyal to former President Bashar al-Assad responsible for the attacks on its forces and the execution of dozens, while security officials were accused of committing violations against civilians and burning and looting homes.

In the same month (March), the Syrian authorities formed a committee to investigate the events and acts of violence that occurred, concluding in July that 563 suspects were identified in involvement and referred their names for investigation and prosecution.
