Yedioth Ahronoth: Israel Begins First Steps of Its Ground Operation in Gaza City
SadaNews Translation - The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Friday that Israel has begun taking its first steps regarding the implementation of its plan to control Gaza City.
The newspaper indicated, as translated by SadaNews, that the combat brigades of the regular and reserve Israeli army have received orders to prepare for a new ground operation.
It noted that the commencement of the operation in Gaza will not take place before next September, and will depend on Israel’s attempts to evacuate about one million residents from Gaza City and its suburbs to the south, despite the expected difficulties in doing so, while trying to rely on the United Nations as a partner in the major humanitarian operation, according to its description.
The plan will focus on the involvement of 4 regular and reserve brigades to encircle Gaza City from all directions apparently, and will advance slowly towards its western neighborhoods, especially since there are high-rise buildings remaining in the Sabra, Al-Nasr, and Sheikh Ajleen areas.
Following that, the combat procedures phase will begin, which will include in-depth discussions regarding the stages of military movement, timing of operations, scenarios and responses, logistical preparations, and the positioning of forces in the border area and the Nitsareem axis, in addition to the initial airstrikes that will commence.
