Discussing Several Issues.. The Cabinet Demands Increased International Pressure to Stop the Aggression on Gaza and End the Famine

SadaNews - The Palestinian Cabinet demanded that countries around the world intensify immediate efforts to reject Israeli statements calling for control over the West Bank, viewing these as a blatant challenge and a gross violation of the will of the international community and international legitimacy.

The Council warned of the dangerous escalation of settlement attacks in areas labeled "C," asserting that their continuation undermines the realization of the Palestinian state and deepens the occupation.

The Cabinet stressed the necessity of increasing international pressure to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip and lift the unprecedented siege that has exacerbated famine and led to a horrifying increase in the number of casualties, condemning at the same time the ongoing targeting and killing of aid recipients, medical crews, civil defense personnel, and journalists.

Additionally, Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa praised in his opening remarks at the weekly Cabinet session today, Tuesday, the declaration by several countries of their intent to recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming General Assembly in September, the latest being Australia and New Zealand. He emphasized the continuation of political efforts to secure further international recognition, as this step represents a real approach to ending the longest occupation in contemporary history, and putting an end to the suffering and hunger in the Gaza Strip.

In another context, the Cabinet expressed its rejection of Israeli blackmail through the continued detention of clearance funds, affirming its ongoing efforts at all levels to pressure for the release of our withheld funds and secure additional financial resources necessary for the government to meet its obligations. In this regard, the Council valued the resilience and patience of public sector employees and various other sectors amid the comprehensive war and financial and economic siege that our people are suffering, as well as the occupation’s efforts to undermine our national institutions, according to the statement.

Furthermore, the Cabinet discussed the completion of the technical arrangements for holding the high school examinations in the sector, including strengthening internet points at various locations; to enable students to take the exams, in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, and telecommunications companies.

As part of the government's efforts to enhance water resources amid shortages during the summer season and due to the occupation's policies and violations, the Council discussed accelerating the maintenance procedures for several vital water wells in joint coordination between various relevant authorities, including the maintenance of one of the main wells in the southeast Nablus area in cooperation with the Joint Services Council for Planning and Development, in order to resume water supplies for approximately 45,000 citizens.

The council also reviewed the efforts of the ministerial committee for emergency work in completing the needs of displaced families in northern West Bank, including coordination with the cash working group that incorporates 40 relief organizations, to secure more necessary supplies, particularly completing rent allowances for families that have not received their last payment yet. In addition, there are ongoing efforts from relevant ministries to continue providing relief assistance in terms of food and health necessities, as well as completing the infrastructure rehabilitation and repair works to strengthen citizens' resilience.

In a related context, the Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Social Development in Palestine and the Ministry of Family and Social Services in Turkey, to provide care and urgent response to 346 Palestinian families of the wounded, sick, and their companions from Gaza receiving treatment in Turkish hospitals.

The Cabinet also discussed, in the first reading, a draft system of fees for publications and media licenses, and referred it to heads of government departments for feedback.
