662 detainees including 39 children and 12 women in the West Bank last month
SadaNews - The prisoner institutions stated that 662 cases of arrest were recorded in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, during the month of July 2025, including (39) children and (12) women.
The prisoner institutions (the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, and the Ad-Dameer Association for Prisoners' Care and Human Rights) clarified in a report issued today, Sunday, that the total number of arrests in the West Bank since the onset of the genocide war has risen to more than (18,500), which includes over (570) cases of arrests of women, and about (1500) cases of arrests of children.
These figures include those who remain arrested by the occupation and those who were released later, and do not include the number of detainees from Gaza, which is estimated in the thousands since the start of the genocide.
The institutions added in their bulletin regarding the most prominent data and documented cases during July that the Israeli occupation authorities continued systematic arrest campaigns in the West Bank, alongside the escalation of settlers' aggression in the villages and towns, which contributed to an increase in the pace of arrests, with the aggression on Masafer Yatta being a prominent example of this.
These campaigns were accompanied by field executions, home demolitions, and intensified field investigations coupled with torture and severe beating, in addition to organized terrorism, and detaining families of wanted persons as hostages, especially women. The operations of theft and seizure have also turned into a fixed policy accompanying the arrests.
The occupation continued to expand the use of administrative detention, as its intelligence issued hundreds of orders affecting female and child detainees, justifying it with the existence of a "secret file." The institutions repeatedly affirmed that the percentage of administrative detainees is the highest compared to those detained and sentenced, in a historic shift for the prisoner movement after the genocide, as their number today reached (3613), including more than (80) children and (8) female prisoners.
The institutions pointed out the ongoing targeting of journalists, through turning them into administrative detention or arresting them on the grounds of "incitement" on social media, as the number of cases of arrest or detention against journalists since the onset of the genocide reached at least (195), of whom (50) are still under arrest, including one female journalist.
The institutions also noted that assaults by settlers have recently peaked, helping to provide cover for more arrests. The case of the martyrdom of the citizen, Ouda al-Hithalin, shot by a settler, and the arrest of several family members and residents from his town, is an example of systematic criminality, and the role played by the Israeli "judiciary" in releasing the killer of the martyr, in a blatant invitation to settlers to continue the crimes of killing and displacement.
The occupation authorities did not stop targeting released prisoners, especially those released under the ceasefire agreement, by storming their homes, summoning them for interrogation, and tormenting their families. This policy is an extension of targeting former prisoners, as a large percentage of current detainees are former prisoners who have been arrested multiple times.
As for the detention situations, the prison administration continues to commit its systematic crimes against detainees, the most notable of which are: torture, starvation, medical crimes, physical assaults, systematic pillaging, and unprecedented collective isolation since the onset of the genocide. According to the institutions, the number of martyrs among the prisoners and detainees since the onset of the genocide has risen to (76), whose identities are known, including Samir al-Rifai from Jenin and Sa'il Abu al-Nasr from Gaza, who were martyred during the month of July.
During the same month, the institutions managed to visit dozens of prisoners and detainees in the prisons and detention camps, where their testimonies reflected the continuation of torture crimes, including systematic repression, severe beating, use of sound bombs, police dogs, rubber bullets, electric shocks, in addition to the policy of starvation and deprivation of medical treatment, and the spread of diseases and epidemics, especially scabies, where a noticeable rise in the number of cases was witnessed in "Ofer" prison. The situation was no different for female prisoners and children, as the prison administration continues its crimes against them amidst fears for the conditions of three pregnant female prisoners who require special care.
Regarding Gaza detainees, the testimonies received are shocking and horrifying, including crimes such as: pouring hot water on their bodies, forcing them to completely undress, prolonged isolation, continuous shackling, "disco interrogation," severe beating, use of police dogs, and psychological torture methods that led some to provide inaccurate confessions under torture, with one detainee even attempting suicide. According to the occupation's prison administration, the number of detainees from Gaza announced is (2378), whom they describe as "illegal combatants," without counting detainees held in army camps. The number of identified martyrs among them stands at (46), while dozens remain subject to enforced disappearance.
The prison administration also continues to target the leadership of the prisoner movement, being held in solitary confinement in cells, with repeated transfers between "Janat" and "Megiddo," alongside systematic beatings and various forms of torture.
In the case of sick prisoners, the institutions face difficulty in counting the numbers due to the spread of diseases and the denial of treatment to the prisoners, which constitutes systematic medical crimes that take various forms. Among the notable cases is prisoner Mohammed Abu al-Izz from Jericho, who suddenly lost the ability to walk while being held in "Negev" prison due to harsh detention conditions, noting that he did not suffer from health issues prior to his arrest, and he is one of hundreds of cases that have turned into patients due to the policies of the occupation.
In light of the ongoing crimes against prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons and camps, the institutions confirmed that these violations will continue as long as there is systematic international incapacitation in the face of the genocide war and its accompanying crimes. The institutions renewed their call to the international human rights system to bear its responsibilities, warning against the state of exception granted to the occupation by international powers, which constitutes a green light for more crimes, and these are the same powers that imposed sanctions on the UN rapporteur "Francesca Albanese," in blatant violation of international law, considering that a direct threat to the pillars of the human rights system.
The numbers of prisoners until the beginning of August 2025:
● The total number of prisoners and detainees in Israeli occupation detention centers until the beginning of August 2025 is about (10,800), noting that this number does not include detainees held in military camps of the occupation.
This number represents the highest since the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, based on available documentation data.
● Female prisoners: Their number until today is (49), among them two prisoners from Gaza.
● Children: As of today, their number exceeds (450).
● Administrative detainees: As of the beginning of July, their number was (3,613), representing the highest ratio compared to the numbers of detained and sentenced prisoners classified as "illegal combatants."
● Detainees classified as "illegal combatants": Their number is (2,378). Note that this number does not include all Gaza detainees held in military camps of the occupation. This classification also includes Arab detainees from Lebanon and Syria.
