Russia Announces Date for First Reception of Skin Cancer Vaccine
SadaNews - Alexander Gintsburg, Director of the Russian "Gamaliya" Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Research, revealed the expected date for patients to start receiving the Russian anti-cancer vaccine.
In a statement to the press regarding the matter, Gintsburg said:
"According to the current action plan, if it is fully implemented, the first batch of skin cancer (melanoma) patients is expected to begin receiving this drug experimentally in about two months, that is, between the end of September and mid-October. If the mRNA vaccine technology used in this vaccine is successful, its application can be expanded to include other types of cancer."
He added: "The next set of issues planned for discussion today pertains to expanding the range of cancer patients who can be involved in treatment using this technology. We are talking here, first and foremost, about improving the software that, as is well known, is currently tailored for cancers with very high genetic variability, such as skin cancer (melanoma), small-cell lung cancer, and others."
Gintsburg pointed out that there are a large number of cancer diseases characterized by genetic variability and significantly fewer mutations compared to skin cancer and small-cell lung cancer, including pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, and certain types of kidney cancers. Therefore, all stages of treatment must be programmed according to the nature of the neuro-antigens and the immune system.
The vaccine is being developed in collaboration with several scientific entities in Russia, including the "Gamaliya" Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Research, the "Hertzen" Institute for Oncology Research in Moscow, and the "Blokhin" National Medical Research Center of Oncology.
