Belgorod: Russian Federal Security Thwarts Assassination Attempt on Director of a Defense Industrial Organization

SadaNews - The Russian Federal Security Service reported thwarting an assassination attempt on the director general of a defense industrial organization in Belgorod by "Ukrainian loyalists".

The statement from the Federal Security Service of Russia said: "Ukrainian loyalist terrorists are behind the assassination attempt on the director general of the defense industrial organization in Belgorod".

The statement added: "It was found that the attempt was organized by Ukrainian-loyal terrorist groups, where one of their agents (a Russian citizen) traveled to Bryansk to retrieve arms and explosives that were dropped via a drone for use in the terrorist operation."

Regarding the mechanism of execution and apprehension, the statement continued: "The Russian citizen communicated via the Telegram app with a representative of one of the banned Ukrainian-loyal terrorist groups in Russia, and received instructions to head to the Troitsevo area in Bryansk to collect an illegal shipment."

The shipment included firearms and explosives, which were intended to be used in the assassination of the director general of the military establishment in Belgorod.

The suspect was arrested while attempting to collect the shipment, and the operation was completely thwarted before it could be executed.
