Predictions of ChatGPT Users Increasing to 700 Million Weekly
SadaNews Economy - It is expected that the number of weekly active users of ChatGPT from OpenAI will reach 700 million this week, up from 500 million in March, marking a more than fourfold year-on-year growth, according to the company.
This figure includes all ChatGPT AI products - free, Plus Pro, Enterprise, Team, and Edu - and comes at a time when daily user messages have exceeded 3 billion, according to the company. The growth rate is accelerating, compared to an annual growth of 2.5 times during the same period last year.
Nick Turley, Vice President of Product at ChatGPT, stated when announcing this benchmark: "Every day, individuals and teams are learning, innovating, and solving tougher problems."
OpenAI now has 5 million paid commercial users on ChatGPT, up from 3 million in June, with an increasing number of businesses and educators integrating AI tools.
ChatGPT still has a long way to go to reach the user numbers announced for Google's AI research product, AI Overviews.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, stated during the company's quarterly earnings call that this product, which summarizes search results, now has about 2 billion monthly users in over 200 countries.
Pichai added that the Gemini app, an intelligent chat application from the company, now has over 450 million monthly active users.
OpenAI has received $40 billion in funding from a group of top investors, including Dragoneer Investment Group, Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, Katiu Management, and Altimeter Capital.
This investment is part of a $40 billion funding round led by SoftBank, according to a source familiar with the deal who requested anonymity to discuss financial information. The round was completed ahead of schedule, exceeding the subscription value by five times the required amount.
OpenAI's annual recurring revenue now stands at $13 billion, up from $10 billion in June, and the company is on track to exceed $20 billion by the end of the year.
Even with a valuation of $300 billion and an operational revenue rate of $20 billion, OpenAI will need massive capital to support its global journey.
