Hundreds of Former Israeli Security Officials to Trump: Pressure Netanyahu to End the Gaza War

SadaNews - Nearly 600 former Israeli security officials, including former chiefs of staff of the army, Shin Bet, and Mossad, have called in a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump to pressure the Israeli government to immediately end the war on Gaza.

Among the signatories of the letter are former security ministers Ehud Barak and Moshe Ya'alon, both of whom held the position of chief of staff of the army. It was also signed by former army chief Dan Halutz, as well as three former heads of the Mossad: Tamir Pardo, Ephraim Halevy, and Danny Yatom, and five former heads of Shin Bet: Ami Ayalon, Nadav Argaman, Yoram Cohen, Yaakov Perry, and Carmi Gilon.

The letter to Trump stated, "The war is no longer justified. We urge you to direct Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government toward the right direction, to end the war, return the captives, and stop the suffering."

Ayalon noted in this context that "This was a just war, a defensive war, at its beginning. But after we achieved all the military objectives, this war is no longer a just war."

The letter was addressed to Trump on behalf of the organization "Leaders for Israel's Security," which gathers hundreds of former officials from the Israeli army, Shin Bet, Mossad, police, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The letter concluded: "Stop the war in Gaza. On behalf of the organization Leaders for Israel's Security, we urge you to end the Gaza war. You did it in Lebanon, and it is time to implement that in Gaza as well."
