5 Deaths Due to Famine and Malnutrition in the Last 24 Hours
SadaNews - Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced the death of five individuals, all adults, due to famine and malnutrition, recorded by hospitals in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours.
This brings the total number of victims of famine and malnutrition to 180 martyrs, including 93 children.
It is noted that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to escalate, amid a blockade and a shortage of food and medical supplies, as severe famine intertwines with a genocide being waged by Israel since October 7, 2023.
Israeli authorities have closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip since March 2, 2025, preventing the entry of most food and medical aid, leading to the spread of famine within the region.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) had warned that malnutrition among children under five had doubled between March and June, due to the ongoing blockade.
The World Health Organization confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels, stating that the deliberate blockade and delay of aid have caused many lives to be lost, with nearly one in five children under five years old in Gaza City suffering from severe malnutrition.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, the occupying power, has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip that includes killing, starving, destroying, and displacing civilians, ignoring international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to cease.
The genocide has resulted in over 209,000 martyrs and injuries, the majority of whom are children and women, in addition to more than 11,000 missing persons, along with hundreds of thousands displaced, with famine claiming many lives.
