SadaNews Translation - The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth has revealed details of a video that was leaked showing armed members of the "Hamas" movement who seem to have attempted to carry out an attack in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, aiming to abduct soldiers.

The Hebrew site described the incident as unusual, noting that it took place in one of the areas of Khan Younis at 11 AM, involving 13 armed individuals with Kalashnikov rifles and RPG launchers, indicating that they had planned an ambush on a road frequented by the Israeli army in that area.

It indicated that the Israeli army estimates that their goal was to kidnap soldiers.

The site claimed that forces from the 36th Division, including the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade and the 188th Brigade, managed to identify the ambush near a known passageway for Israeli forces operating in the area, resulting in the launch of several drones and a combat helicopter.

It explained that when the aircraft in the sky and ground surveillance points identified the gunmen, they fled to an underground tunnel after hearing the drone's fire, noting that the Israeli army now knows the location of the tunnel and is working to determine its entire path for destruction.

It pointed out that this unusual incident occurred exactly three weeks after an attempt to abduct a soldier in Khan Younis, which ended with the death of soldier Efraham Ozlai, whom Hamas members tried to abduct after firing shots and launching an RPG at an excavator he was working on as part of an engineering unit.

The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the "Hamas" movement, had released a video of that operation, and their spokesperson Abu Obeida confirmed that attempts to capture Israeli soldiers had taken place.

It appears that "Qassam" is trying to alter the perception of the situation in Israel as the latter's government continues to prolong negotiations, through a kidnapping operation that could turn the situation upside down.
