Update: 9 Deaths in the Last 24 Hours Due to Famine and Malnutrition in the Gaza Strip
SadaNews - Medical sources reported today, Friday, the death of a child due to famine and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip.
Sources at the Baptist hospital indicated that the child, Abdel Qader Al-Fayyumi, died from hunger and malnutrition, bringing the total number of deaths due to famine to 114.
Later, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 9 citizens died in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths to 122 since the outbreak of the current war.
It is noted that malnutrition and famine cases are arriving at hospitals in Gaza every moment, where 900,000 children in Gaza suffer from hunger, with 70,000 of them having entered the stage of malnutrition.
It is worth mentioning that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) warned that malnutrition among children under five had doubled between March and June, as a result of the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.
It explained that UNRWA's health centers and medical points conducted nearly 74,000 screenings for children during this period to detect malnutrition, identifying approximately 5,500 cases of moderate acute malnutrition and more than 800 cases of severe acute malnutrition.
