Egypt Welcomes Statement Issued by 25 Countries on the Situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories
SadaNews - The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed the statement issued by the foreign ministers of 25 countries regarding the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, which included a clear demand to end the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, and condemned the Israeli practices in the sector and the occupation's prevention of providing humanitarian aid to its people.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement today, Monday, that Egypt fully supports the position of the countries that joined the statement, rejecting the proposal to transfer the Palestinian population to what is called a "humanitarian city," and its clear stance against the displacement of the Palestinian people, considering it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. Egypt also welcomes the statement's rejection of Israeli colonial settlement expansion in the West Bank and the violence perpetrated by the settlers.
Egypt reaffirmed its continued efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, in partnership with Qatar and the United States, emphasizing the necessity for the international community to adopt more practical steps to implement the two-state solution and establish an independent Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, including recognizing the Palestinian state and supporting a clear and effective political pathway to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.
