Syrian Minister of Health: Sheikh Al-Hijri Refused Entry of Government Delegation Accompanying Aid to Sweida

SadaNews - Syrian Minister of Health Musab Al-Ali stated that the leader of the Druze sect in Syria, Sheikh Hikmat Al-Hijri, refused the entry of the government delegation accompanying the aid convoy sent by the government to Sweida today.

The media office of the Syrian Ministry of Health added in a statement that Sheikh Al-Hijri allows only the entry of aid from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, while the convoys that arrived with the government delegation are returning to Damascus.

The "Syrian News" channel reported that internal security forces have spread between the provinces of Daraa and Sweida in southern Syria to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Sweida.

The Syrian Ministry of Health had announced earlier today, Sunday, that it had prepared a medical aid convoy to the province of Sweida, following the announcement of a ceasefire after attacks launched by Bedouin tribes that had come to the areas of the province in the southwest of Syria.

By this morning, calm descended over the province and aid convoys began moving from the capital Damascus to Sweida, with the Syrian health convoy consisting of 20 fully equipped ambulances along with specialized and highly trained medical teams, and large quantities of medicines and first aid supplies.

The Syrian presidency had announced yesterday morning, Saturday, a ceasefire in Sweida between the Syrian tribes and Druze factions, demanding that all parties adhere to the implementation of the agreement under the threat of accountability.

On Saturday evening, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Nour Al-Din Al-Baba, announced the evacuation of the city of Sweida from all fighters of the Bedouin tribes and the cessation of clashes in the city's neighborhoods.
