Elon Musk Announces the Establishment of a New American Political Party
SadaNews - Billionaire Elon Musk, a former ally of President Donald Trump before recently differing with him, announced on Saturday the establishment of his political party called "America Party."
The CEO of both "Tesla" and "SpaceX" wrote on his social network "X" that, "When it comes to the bankruptcy of our country due to waste and corruption, we are living in a one-party system, not in a democracy."
He added, "Today, the America Party has been established to restore your freedom."
Musk, who has been strongly against the budget bill proposed by the American president, particularly regarding the increase in public debt, had promised in recent days to establish a new political party if the bill was passed.
He had launched a poll on the idea of founding the party on his social network "X" on Friday, coinciding with American National Day and the day of declaration amidst a lot of commotion about the "great and beautiful law" proposed by Trump.
The tech mogul said on Saturday, "Two to one, you want a new political party, and you will get it," after 65% of around 1.2 million participants answered "yes" to the question of whether they would like to establish the "America Party."
He reiterated, "When it comes to the bankruptcy of our country due to waste and corruption, we are living in a one-party system, not in a democracy."
Musk was a close ally of Trump and funded his campaign during the 2024 presidential elections, and was tasked with reducing federal spending by leading a government efficiency committee before the billionaires had a public falling out last May.
Born in South Africa, Musk is not eligible to run in future presidential elections, as candidates must be born in the United States.
