SadaNews - The Counter-Terrorism Service in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq announced in a statement the downing of an explosive-laden drone near Erbil Airport in northern Iraq last night.
Two security sources reported that there were no injury reports.
The Kurdistan Region of Iraq announced on Thursday evening the downing of a bomb-laden drone near Erbil International Airport, which houses a base for the international coalition against ISIS led by Washington, indicating that there were no damages or casualties.
It is noteworthy that the administration of Kirkuk International Airport announced in an official statement on July 1 that three projectiles of unknown origin fell in the vicinity of the airport at 11:30 PM on Monday.
The Counter-Terrorism Service in Kurdistan Iraq also reported on June 18 that a bomb-laden drone was destroyed in Erbil.
A statement from the service stated, "According to counter-terrorism information in Kurdistan, a bomb-laden drone was destroyed and brought down near the village of Sharawa."
On June 24, U.S. forces in Iraq intercepted five one-way offensive drones targeting bases near Baghdad Airport, while two drones had previously fallen near a base in Erbil over the course of two days.
The attacks caused damage to radar systems at the Taji and southern Iraq bases, with no injuries reported.
