SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday evening that he will be firm with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their meeting next Monday regarding ending the war in Gaza.
Trump stated in remarks to reporters that Netanyahu has a desire to end the war in Gaza, especially after achieving significant success in Iran.
He reiterated his earlier statements, saying: "I believe we will reach an agreement to end the war in Gaza next week."
He pointed out that Netanyahu will visit Washington next Monday to celebrate the destruction of Iranian nuclear facilities, calling what has happened a great accomplishment.
Meanwhile, Channel 12 in Israel reported that there have been intensive communications taking place in Israel over the past hours to reach an agreement amid the current progress in the communications, as translated by SadaNews.
Axios reported that U.S. and Israeli officials stated that the planned meeting between U.S. envoy Steve Whitehouse and Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer aims to discuss U.S. ideas regarding post-war plans for Gaza.
It is expected that Whitehouse will brief Dermer on efforts to secure a 60-day ceasefire with Hamas, according to the same sources.
The site noted that Whitehouse has been in recent communication with Qatari and Egyptian officials to formulate an updated proposal for the deal.
Whitehouse explained to the mediators that Trump intends to push for an agreement in the coming days.
An Israeli official stated that Trump's ideas regarding the day after in Gaza are very general.
The official added: We are ready to modify the language of the agreement to make it more acceptable to Hamas, but we will not agree in advance to end the war.
