Israeli Sources Anticipate a Near Breakthrough in Ceasefire Negotiations with Hamas
SadaNews - Channel 12 reported, citing a source familiar with the negotiations, that there are serious prospects for achieving a tangible breakthrough in the coming days, amid expectations that official statements will be issued from Washington confirming the start of negotiations soon.
According to the same source, Israeli estimates indicate that the negotiating delegations will begin their actual movements following a forthcoming meeting between Dermer and Weitkov in Washington, which opens the door to rapid progress in the talks.
Other sources have suggested that this renewed dynamic may lead to an agreement with Hamas within a week, if negotiations continue with the current momentum.
These moves come amid a state of political stalemate that has lasted for weeks, following previous rounds of negotiations that were sponsored by international parties, most notably Egypt and Qatar. The new U.S. efforts are seen as an attempt to regain momentum for the talks, at a time when international pressures are increasing to reach a long-term ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
So far, there have been no official positions issued by Hamas regarding the ongoing discussions.
