Palestine Stock Exchange Announces Update of the Al-Quds Islamic Index Sample for 2026

SadaNews - The Palestine Stock Exchange announced the update of the companies comprising the "Al-Quds Islamic Index" sample at the beginning of June this year, as part of the periodic review conducted by the exchange for all listed companies according to the approved Sharia standards. This update comes after receiving the final financial data for the year 2025, which forms the basis for assessing the compliance of the companies with those standards. The number of companies approved in the new sample reached 18 listed companies, allowing investors to easily recognize companies that meet the requirements for Islamic investment within the Palestinian market.

The exchange relied on the evaluation process based on Sharia Standard No. (21), (Securities - Stocks and Bonds) issued by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), which enjoys widespread acceptance in Arab and Islamic countries. It is used in many financial markets to select financial instruments that comply with Islamic law.

The main criteria for including companies in the index include not exceeding the total interest-bearing debt 30% of total assets, and not exceeding total interest-bearing deposits and investments in non-Sharia-compliant assets 30% of total assets. Additionally, revenues non-compliant with Islamic Sharia should not exceed 5% of total revenues, and expenses non-compliant with Islamic Sharia should not exceed 5% of total expenses.

Regarding the performance of the Al-Quds Islamic Index, it recorded an increase of 20% during the year 2025, closing at 101 points, with the highest closing level at 101 points, while the lowest level recorded was 78 points.

The total return index for the Al-Quds Islamic Index also recorded a rise of 25% during the year 2025, closing at 113.05 points, with the highest closing level at 113.05 points, while the lowest recorded was 86.24 points.

It is noteworthy that the "Al-Quds Islamic Index" was launched in June 2022, and it is gaining increasing importance as one of the investment tools that allows investors to build their investment decisions based on clear Sharia controls, especially in light of the rapid global growth of the Islamic finance and investment sector.
