The Anti-Dumping Committee Discusses Mechanisms to Protect and Promote National Products
SadaNews - The Anti-Dumping Committee held a meeting today, Monday, chaired by the Minister of National Economy, Mohammad Al-Amour, and the Minister of Industry, Aref Asfour, to discuss ways to enhance the protection and support for national products and move from the diagnosis phase to the actual implementation of recommendations.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Economy, emphasized the strategic importance of the Anti-Dumping Committee's role in protecting the Palestinian market from harmful practices. They stressed the need to translate the committee's outputs into tangible practical measures that would positively reflect on the national economy.
The committee discussed the progress made in preparing and updating lists of goods for which there is a national alternative, having developed the databases related to these lists, which contributes to steering economic policies towards supporting local production.
Work is also currently underway to review and modify customs procedures to enhance the growth opportunities for national products, particularly regarding the mechanisms for assessing goods.
The participants indicated that there are national companies that have already started to substitute local products for imported ones, in a step that enhances self-reliance and supports the Palestinian industry.
The committee emphasized the comprehensiveness of implementing the mandatory preference for national products in governmental and non-governmental tenders, ensuring priority is given to local products in various procurement and supply operations, expanding the demand base for them, and stimulating investment in the industrial sector.
It was also confirmed that it is essential to follow up on the implementation of procedures and recommendations periodically, building on the achievements made, which will achieve a qualitative accumulation in the support for national products and enhance their competitive capabilities.
