The Arab Labor Organization Issues Urgent Decisions to Support Palestinian Workers
SadaNews - The Board of Directors of the Arab Labor Organization has decided in its (104th) session to issue a package of urgent decisions to support Palestinian workers and enhance their resilience in the occupied territories, based on a detailed report that monitored the devastating effects of the Israeli occupation on the Palestinian economy and society during the year 2025.
The council affirmed at the end of its proceedings its condemnation of all Israeli violations that contradict international law and humanitarian charters, calling for urgent Arab and international action to translate solidarity with Palestinian workers into practical steps. This includes launching initiatives to provide job opportunities, expanding vocational training programs, and establishing economic protection networks for affected families, as well as supporting the Palestinian Employment Fund.
The council welcomed the granting of the State of Palestine observer status in the International Labor Organization, considering this step enhances its presence and active participation in discussing issues and rights of workers at the international level, reaffirming the importance of continuously including the conditions of Palestinian workers on the agenda of the International Labor Conference annually.
It also called for the need to intensify international efforts to pressure for the cessation of ceasefire violations, opening crossings for humanitarian aid, moving forward with the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and ending the blockade permanently.
Additionally, it called for developing social protection systems, enhancing financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, and empowering youth, women, and persons with disabilities, which contributes to building a more resilient Palestinian economy in the face of challenges.
The council emphasized that supporting Palestinian workers and their economic and social resilience represents a shared Arab responsibility, pointing out that the decisions issued during this session constitute a practical step to enhance Arab and international solidarity, protect the rights of Palestinian workers, and enable them to confront current conditions and achieve their aspirations for freedom and independence.
