Ministry of National Economy Refers 145 Offenders to Prosecution in 2025
SadaNews - The Ministry of National Economy referred 145 offenders to the Public Prosecutor's Office for Economic Crimes during the past year for violating the applicable regulations and laws, particularly the Consumer Protection Law.
The ministry stated in its statement that consumer protection teams seized over one thousand tons of expired materials and those violating mandatory technical instructions during inspection tours conducted by teams in various governorates in 2025.
The ministry clarified in its report that the teams conducted more than 4,000 inspection tours, visiting more than 30,000 stores and commercial establishments, of which 680 were found to be in violation. In addition, they addressed 957 complaints and issued 1,174 notifications and legal commitments.
The ministry noted the withdrawal of 649 samples of products for testing to ensure compliance with specifications and mandatory technical instructions.
As part of strengthening partnerships with relevant institutions, the ministry indicated that the General Administration for Consumer Protection held meetings with partner entities to discuss feedback on the updated draft of the Consumer Protection Law, along with following up on the implementation of the recommendations from the Anti-Dumping Team.
The Ministry of National Economy confirmed its commitment to intensifying market oversight and protecting consumer rights, urging citizens to report any violations.
