Minister of National Economy Discusses Economic Situation in Bethlehem Governorate with Local Stakeholders
SadaNews - During his visit to Bethlehem Governorate on Wednesday, Minister of National Economy Mohammed Al-Amour confirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting the private sector and enhancing the economic and tourism conditions in the governorate, given its commercial and touristic significance on both national and global levels.
The minister began his visit by meeting with Bethlehem Governor Mohammed Tahah, where they discussed the priorities for economic development in the governorate and emphasized the importance of developing the trade and tourism sectors as essential pillars of the local economy.
During his visit to Bethlehem Municipality, the minister stressed the city's status as a major center for religious and cultural tourism, asserting the need to develop its investment environment to support this vital sector and enhance its role in the national economy.
The visit included a tour of several institutions in the governorate and a meeting with businesspersons, in addition to a visit to Abu Shamsiya Company, which employs more than 180 staff members.
During the tour, the minister reviewed the production lines, including the rice and sugar packaging line and the cardboard cup factory, praising the company's role in supporting the local market and urging it to offer special promotions during the holy month of Ramadan.
The visit concluded with a broad meeting at the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended by traders and businessmen, where the minister noted that the timing of the visit coincides with the festive season, sending a message of support to the governorate and its people during this time.
Al-Amour spoke about the ministry's efforts to expand its electronic service system to soon include all its services, contributing to speeding up procedures and improving service quality for citizens.
He highlighted the ministry's key achievements, including the development of the electronic company registration system, the approval of e-commerce competition laws, and the development of systems that regulate commercial activities and support the investment environment.
During the meeting, topics related to the quota system and payment receipts were discussed, with the minister confirming that the ministry is following up on these issues to ensure practical solutions that meet market needs while protecting both consumers and the private sector.
The minister emphasized the ministry's commitment to providing support and facilities to the private sector as a key partner in building the national economy, reiterating ongoing efforts to enhance economic development in Bethlehem Governorate and all other governorates of the homeland.
