After American Pressures: Israel Announces the Opening of the "Commercial" Allenby Crossing on Wednesday

SadaNews - An Israeli security source announced today, Tuesday, that based on instructions from the political level, the Allenby (Karama) crossing between Israel and Jordan will open tomorrow, Wednesday, for the transfer of goods and aid from Jordan to the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The newspaper "Haaretz" reported that the Israeli decision came following pressures exerted by the United States on Israel to open the crossing, which has been closed since September of last year, following a shooting incident carried out by a Jordanian truck driver, who was delivering aid to Gaza, during which two Israeli soldiers were killed.

According to the security source, changes have been implemented on both the Israeli and Jordanian sides of the crossing in recent weeks, and security inspection procedures for Jordanian drivers and truck loads have been tightened along with increased security patrols.

Since the closure of the crossing, the United States and Jordan have been exerting pressure on Israel to reopen it.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Woltz, met yesterday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the matter of opening the Allenby crossing.

Woltz stated that his meeting with Netanyahu aimed to advance the implementation of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza.

Woltz met in Jordan the day before yesterday with King Abdullah II, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, where they discussed the future of the Gaza Strip.
