4,468 devices and 380 Israeli SIM cards... The outcome of the regulatory rounds on the telecommunications sector during November
SadaNews - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced that inspection teams, in cooperation with the Customs Control Authority and supported by the Preventive Security Service, conducted an intensive series of regulatory rounds during November as part of their efforts to regulate the telecommunications market and limit the circulation of smuggled and illegal devices.
The campaign included more than 27 regulatory rounds across various governorates of the West Bank, resulting in the seizure of 4,468 smuggled communication devices that violated existing regulations. Additionally, 380 Israeli SIM cards, prohibited from circulation within the Palestinian market, were confiscated, with legal procedures being completed and their destruction carried out according to the rules.
The authority emphasized the necessity for retail shops and import companies to adhere to the regulations and rules governing the sector, ensuring that the devices and SIM cards traded in the markets are legally licensed and accredited. It stressed the continuation of its regulatory campaigns in the upcoming period, aiming to stabilize the market, strengthen anti-smuggling efforts, protect consumers, and improve the quality of services provided.
